Please feel welcome to the Santa Cruz branch dojo. We are a small group, training in the old fashioned ways, in a traditional dojo with traditional warm hearted values.
Matsubayashi-Ryu maintains direct lineage with the founding masters of karate-do. Chamberlain Sensei had the unique opportunity to learn directly from its founder, Osensei Shoshin Nagamine, as well as from his son, Soke Takayoshi Nagamine, along with many other senior sensei (Makishi Sensei, Tamaki Sensei, Nakamura Sensei). Chamberlain Sensei continues to have close ties with the Masubayashi-ryu community of Okinawa, especially with her current Sensei, Tetsuo Makishi, son of the late Yasuharu Makishi Sensei.
What we therefore proudly present, is the art without any dilution or distortion. This is as original as it can possibly get.
